USA Touch Nationals 2021 was a three day event held in Austin, Texas on October 11-13th.  This Nationals was a tremendous cap to the year for the Portland Hunters.⁣ We are so fortunate to have a vibrant club that continues to grow each year even through a pandemic.⁣ Our growth shows the resilience of our players and their determination to move touch in the US forward. ⁣

So many people to thank, we'd love to give a shout out to Hunters' Kaitlin, Karen, & Hannah for their crucial planning. Wendy & Sandy, our team moms that were instrumental in our success. The coaching staff: Craig, Nate Dawg, Brendan, & Jesse, the club is so grateful for your leadership. As well as the team managers: Brad & Lizard, your help was essential to the club.⁣

Big love to the referees that traveled and made their own impact on the growth of USA Touch: Mark, Jeff, Alan, & Chris.⁣

Congratulations to the Hunters Women's Open side for completing their mission of becoming National Champions once again. ⁣
⁣
Big ups to the Hunters' Mens Open side for completing in 4th place. Not the result we hoped for but we are so proud of all the new players for choosing to be apart of the family and the vets who continue to advance themselves and the club as a whole.⁣

We are also proud of the Hunters that have transitioned to bigger roles in the game; much love to Adrian Witte who continues to move the women's game forward as the Director of USA Touch's Women's Program and congratulations on your appointment as referee of the Men's Open Final.⁣

Hunters Women Win Invite, Men Place Second

Brought to you by the same folks who created the NYC Invite, Hunters were invited to bring a men's and women's squads to the Del Mar Polo Fields on September 25, 2021. The one day tournament was packed with drama. The women were able to secure the win  6-3 over NY Touch. The men made it to the final in a dramatic win over NY but eventually fell to a strong Austin Huns side.  Thank you to the coaches and leadership who made this tour possible and congratulations to the following Hunters for representing:

Huge round of applause for one of our all-time favorite Hunters, Juanita Fetuuaho 👏

Juanita has been selected to compete for Team Mexico in the Olympic 7s Repechage on June 19 & 20 in Monaco, as the Serpientes vie for the final spot in the Tokyo Games.

We are beyond proud of Juanita for her hard work and dedication, we can’t wait to watch her smash at such a large stage.

What a time to be a Portland Hunter!! 

We pay gratitude to EVERY member who has contributed to our club - Hunters of the past, the present and the future. This weekend, the touring squad came away as champions of the NYC Touch Tournament because of you all. 

There were many lessons learned on this tour during the lead up, on the day, and on the pitch. 

The final was thrilling. Hunters and NYC Touch played hard up to the very last second. They’d score, we’d score. They’d get a stop, we’d get a stop. When the hooter rang,  Erik Mendoza edged one more in to tie the game up. We went to drop off!

In drop off, both teams are given an opportunity to score. In a true dramatic fashion, BOTH teams had opportunities to win with convertible attempts at the line. We stayed the course and flowed out of the box, stretching them wide with enough space to burn them on the edge. Defense wins games and with a Craig Martin interception we won. Final score: 10-9 

Big shoutouts to the Austin Axes, San Diego and New York for a great tournament. 

We look forward to the continued growth of touch in the US.
